Terms & Conditions
CONDITIONS UPON WHICH PROPERTY IS REMOVED, PACKED OR WAREHOUSED BY EXODUS REMOVALS DURING THE PROCEDURE OF YOUR MOVE.

This explains your rights, obligations and responsibilities and those of Exodus Removals, pertaining to your move.

When we use the word ‘you’ and ‘your’ it means the customer, when we use the word ‘us’ and ‘we’ it means Exodus Removals. These conditions can only be changed or amended by written agreement between the customer and Exodus Removals.

Our liability for loss or damage during a move is limited – in this regard please pay special attention to liability section - for this reason we have the option to offer removal insurance in our removal quotation.

Insurance is a separate contract between you and the insurers.

The insurance conditions are separate from our removal Conditions of Contract.

The following terms and conditions will apply to your move:

Our commitment to you

Your move will be personally supervised by the owner.

All furniture will be covered and protected by blankets during a move.

All beds will be covered with plastic bed covers for protection.

We will disconnect all appliances and reconnect these at the destination during a move (excludes TV’s, sound systems and computers).

We will reassemble any items that we have dismantled during a move.

Your furniture and all other goods are handled with professionalism and care.

Items are transported in large volume closed vehicle.

At the delivery address we will position all furniture and other goods as required.


Arrival & delivery times

Please note that we strive to arrive at the time to start the move, as agreed with you.

We strive to be on time with every move. If we are running late we will let you know.

Due to unforeseen conditions and circumstances the delivery time required cannot be guaranteed and may change.

Exodus Removals or owners will not be held responsible in any way for deliveries not done by a required time or late deliveries.





Filling out the inventory form

All home and/or office goods; including all furniture, electrical appliances, computers and other goods must to be indicated on your inventory list, relevant to your move.


Your completed inventory form for your move can be emailed to info@exodusremovals.co.za.


Additional charges will be levied for any items not specified. If additional charges are not accepted then unspecified items will not be loaded on the vehicle. Please submit a list of any items not listed on the inventory form, relevant to your move.


The accesses at the collection and delivery addresses must be clearly indicated on your inventory form. These details include whether trucks are allowed to enter the complex or estate during the move and the distance from the truck to the front door.


Various options are available for your move and it should be clearly indicated on the inventory form if any of the following is required:
a) Insurance for your move.
b) Special wrapping of items with bubble wrap or Cushion Kraft (optional as everything is covered with blankets).
c) Supplying of boxes.
d) Packing of boxes.
e) Rental of Wardrobe boxes.
f) Dismantling and assembling of items during the move.


Liability regarding Payment, Insurance, Cancellation, Storage and Removal terms:

a) Payment for any home, office or goods removals must be made 5 days prior to a move via a bank transfer or alternatively payment can be made in cash when we start loading on the day of the move. Amount to reflect in our account when we start the move.

b) A non-returnable deposit may be charged to confirm the move.

c) Cheque deposits or payments are not accepted for any move.

d Goods will remain the property of Exodus Removals until full payment for the move is received prior to the delivery of such goods.

e) If payment is not made prior to the delivery of the goods for the move and goods are only delivered at a different or later time then additional delivery charges will be incurred.

f) We have a legal right to withhold or ultimately dispose of some or all of the goods until you have paid all our charges and other payments due under this contract. While we hold the goods and wait for payment, you will be liable to pay all storage charges and other costs incurred by withholding your goods and these terms and conditions will continue to apply.

g) Should payment for a removal not be made within 48 hours, goods will be sold to defray costs.

h) Exodus Removals and its staff members will not be held responsible for any damage or loss to any furniture or any other goods during a move, not covered by insurance.

i) Should you elect to choose the insurance option on your removal Inventory Form, your removal quote amount will include Transit Insurance (fire, collision & overturning) at a rate of 1.25% of owner declared value (min 750-00).

j) All care is taken in handling your possessions during a move; however goods not insured under comprehensive insurance are carried at your own risk. If comprehensive insurance is required, please call your own broker/insurance company for cover under your ‘Householder’s Policy’. Comprehensive insurance is alternatively available on request at the following rate: 2.75% of owner declared value (min R750.00).

k) We do not offer comprehensive “householders” insurance on furniture and other goods while in storage. Please arrange insurance with your own broker/insurance company.

l) The following fees will be charged for any cancellation or postponement of the move: 

  1) Cancellations less than 72 hours prior to your move - Cancellation fee of 50% of your removal charge. 

  2) Postponements less than 72 hours prior to your move - Postponement fee of 20% of your removal charge.


It is your responsibility during any home move or office move to ensure;

a) That all, and the correct goods are moved during the removal process.

b) That you take responsibility for the security of your goods during a move, by being present during the process and/or having someone present to represent you at both the departure and destination premises during the move.

c) That the goods moved are your property,

d) Or that you have the authority of the owner of the goods to have the goods moved or stored.

e) That all furniture and items are placed as required before we leave. There will be extra charges to return at a later time to make changes.


Exodus Removals will not be liable for any damage or loss during a move of:

a) Any furniture or goods other than furniture or goods as stated and submitted for removal and/or storage, as stated on the inventory list which you submitted to Exodus Removals pertaining to your move.

b) Jewelry, cell phones, watches, cameras, laptops, PlayStation, iPod.

c) Money (cash), personal documents or collections of any nature.

d) Food, drinks, domestic animals and their containers and plants.

e) Wear and tear or vermin/moth damaged items at your home and/or office premises and/or whilst in storage.

f) Potentially dangerous items, firearms or explosives.

g) Domestic and/or office keys.

h) Fire, loss and/or damage to goods whilst in storage.

i) Death, injury, sickness or disease arising from the removal or storage.

j) Items with an inherent defect.

k) Items delivered at the delivery address where contractors or people are working within or at the premises.

l) Any items not packed or unpacked by us during your move.

m) Items left behind during the move. It is the responsibility of the owner or their agents to check that all items have been removed and loaded.

n) Items left behind on the vehicle when the move is completed. It is the responsibility of the owner or their agent to ensure that all items have been offloaded and the vehicle is empty.

o) Goods damaged and/or missing if not reported to us after a move or within 48 hours of the move.

p) Glass furniture, glass table tops, glass panes or any glassware.

q) Any furniture or any other goods during a move, that is not covered by insurance.
